I can’t remember the last time I had a sinus cold. In 2009, I had the flu for the second time in my life. Basically, I’m rarely sick. So I’m not sure why this cold and flu season has been so harsh.
Sometimes, I get stuck in the mindset that whatever creative thing I’m doing can’t possibly be art because it’s fun. Like it needs to feel like work or it doesn’t count.
I totally enjoyed using the dance step diagram as a reference yesterday. So, I decided to go ahead and work with another one today.
When I was younger, I had this weird fascination with dance step diagrams. I would follow the diagram with my eyes, counting off the steps, and envision moving physically along the pattern. Sometimes, I would actually try out the steps while humming my own music.
I think I’ve re-checked the calendar a dozen times today. It seems so much like a Monday that I can’t believe it’s Tuesday. Glue wouldn’t hold. Measuring three times didn’t keep me from cutting a board the wrong size. The list goes on.
Yesterday got away from me, and today nearly has. The good thing is that losing track of time is a sign of having fun.
While it’s awesome (and a little anxiety-inducing) to push myself out of my comfort zone, there are times when I need to keep things simple.
It’s been cold, snowy, and seriously windy for several days. Today, Mother Nature decided to switch things up with mild temperatures and rain. Lots of rain. So much gray calls for splashes of color.
